Gnomeo and Juliet 3-D

6/10 E.M.
4/10 C.E.
5/10 3-D

Put quite simply this is a cute movie and good family film that many will enjoy whether dragged there by little kids or not. The 3-D is not exactly great having few pop moments and not doing the best of jobs immersing one into the film. On the same token the 3-D is potentially worth the price especially if there is no 2-D format. (like at my theater.) In the end it's largely up to the viewer in this case especially since it can wind up being pricey to bring a family to a 3-D movie.

The script and plot are definitely not original largely taking Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and then changing it in the fashion of their choosing. For some their twisting of Shakespeare may seem wrong but let's keep in mind this is a kids movie. This twisting however results in the movie having the characters, lines and a very loose following of the plot infused with garden gnomes and the world they would live in... if they were alive that is. There are many funny parts in the movie especially the terafermanator which always gives me a chuckle when I check in on the movie at work. The music is largely Elton John so if you like his work you'll like the movie if you don't well you may want some ear plugs. If you've already seen Tangled and are looking for a good family film that does a great job of immersing you in a cute world Gnomeo and Juliet is a good choice
